3 spots to take
UC Santa Cruz grad photos.
Much of UC Santa Cruz sits on rolling, forested hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean adjacent to Monterey Bay. In fact, this location was chosen for its beauty rather than its practicality leading to the formation of residential colleges which are spread out across campus. With a banana slug as its mascot, its history of counterculture, and the way the school was built, many would say that UCSC is the UC system’s most unique campus.
Given the campus’ large size, it can be difficult trying to fit more photo shoot locations. If they feel particularly attached, some students may want to take photos at their residential college. That said, if you still can’t decide, here are three spots for your graduation photos at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
1. “university of california santa cruz” sign.
Located near UC Santa Cruz’s main entrance, a huge redwood sign engraved with the name of the university greets visitors. This sign was erected in 1966, one year after the university was established.

2. mchenry library.
Tucked into the numerous redwoods at the heart of UCSC’s campus is McHenry Library, named after the university’s first chancellor. The library features a minimalist design with floor-to-ceiling glass giving students an amazing view of the surrounding forest.

3. pedestrian footbridges.
Several ravines can be found across UCSC. Numerous footbridges span those ravines giving students easy access to various parts of campus. For photos, some of the more popular bridges, include McHenry - Hahn Bridge, Porter College Bridge, and Science Hill - College 9 & 10 Bridge.
